[Webinar] Traceable AI for Public Data: An Open Model for Latin America

We would like to invite the open knowledge communities to join our upcoming webinar organised in collaboration with the UN Regional Hub for Big Data in Brazil and ECLAC Knowledge Transfer Network. The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN) team will present an experimental solution that connects a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server with the open data catalogs of Brazil and Uruguay.

📅 June 18, 2026   🕓 11:00 UTC-3 / 16:00 CEST   🗣 Language: Spanish, with English subtitles   📝 Registration link

The goal is to enable citizens to ask questions in natural language through a conversational interface and receive AI-generated answers that can be traced back to the original datasets.

During the session, we will share the design and engineering decisions behind the integration, the challenges encountered, and the lessons learned through the AI Learning Labs project, developed in partnership with the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU-Brazil) and the Agency for Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC-Uruguay).

We will discuss how trustworthy and traceable AI can help combat misinformation and strengthen public trust in public institutions. The webinar aims to inspire other organisations across Latin America to adopt similar models in their own open data portals.
